In carnie terminology, a geek was a sideshow act involving the eating of strange, inedible things (in the old days, this often invited biting the heads of chickens). In Roger Ebert's review of the Troma classic Mother's Day, the critic used the term "geek cinema" to describe films intended to shock and disgust. Luther the Geek is a 1989 movie about a deranged killer terrifying a family after his release from prison.
